Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah

The peace invocation

oṃ sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥsarve santu nirāmayāḥsarve bhadrāṇi paśyantumā kaścid duḥkha-bhāg bhavetoṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ

What does the Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah mean?

May all be happy, may all be free from illness, may all see what is auspicious, may no one suffer. The threefold shanti asks for peace from three sources of disturbance: the divine, the natural world, and oneself.

When it is chanted

Recited to close a puja, a reading or a gathering. It asks for nothing on one's own behalf.

Shanti and peace-of-mind pujas
